Bio:
Alexandre Dumas was born in 1802 in Villers-CotterĂȘts, France. He came from an aristocratic background, though his grandmother was born into slavery. Despite facing discrimination due to being biracial, Dumas had a passion for literature from a young age. Through perseverance and hard work, he would go on to become one of the most widely read French authors of all time.
Dumas began his writing career in Paris producing plays and works of non-fiction. His first big success came with The Three Musketeers in 1844, which was a beloved story of friendship and adventure. In addition to novels, Dumas also wrote articles, travel books, and even founded his own newspaper for a time. He worked at a furious pace, producing over 100,000 pages of content in his lifetime.
